A helpful Golfing Tip:
Good Golf Posture

Good posture over the ball sets up the ability to make a good shoulder turn and swing the arms freely back and through the ball. To achieve good posture over the ball it is important to bend from the hip joints, not the waist. Do the following to test your posture:

1) Stand up straight

2) Lay club across hip bones

3) Bend over club from hip joints

4) Flex knees slightly

Your arms should feel relaxed and hanging from the shoulders. You should feel like you have plenty of room to swing. If you feel crowded over the ball, then you must be bending from the waist instead of the hips. Once you learn how to bend over the ball correctly your swing will experience a new sense of freedom.

The Swing Plane

Three factors affect the swing plane: posture, shoulder rotation and wrist hinge. Last month’s focus was how posture affects the swing plane.

Good posture sets up the proper spine angle which is crucial to making an on-plane swing. The next step is to make a level upper body rotation in relation to your spine. In other words, make a level shoulder turn. The final element of a good swing plane is proper wrist hinge in the backswing.

The wrists should be fully set by the time your left arm is parallel to the ground. If the wrists get set too late in the swing, the swing plane will be laid off with the club pointing to the left of the target at the top of the swing.
